Lace up your Adidas and pull the basketball jersey out of the closet, because Trustkill and Ferret records have teamed up to release a comp featuring 20 of the best current and up and coming metal-hardcore bands. I think that this genre has definitely been played out in the last couple years, but this comp reminded me that it isn't all bad. Personal favorites on this comp are Harvest, The Dilinger Escape Plan, and Disembodied. To mix it up they also throw in a couple rock bands such as Picturesque and Ex-Number Five in the mix who were both surprisingly good. Still not sold? There is even a Rancid song on here...wait, let me double check, yeah it's Rancid, weird. Anyways, if you are new to metal-hardcore or would like to check out some great bands you haven't heard yet you should definitely buy this comp. It's only 5 bucks so how could you go wrong?

Counter Theory

Ferret & Trustkill Records team up to bring us this 24-track sampler, displaying the "who's who" in the field of metal-influenced hardcore. Includes Harvest, Sky Came Falling, Endeavor, For the Love Of, Brother's Keeper, Nora, All Chrome, Disembodied, Stretch Armstrong, Dillinger Escape Plan, Turmoil and others. Hell, somehow even Rancid found their way onto this disc (believe it or not!). So, we have some of the biggest names in hardcore and Rancid. What more could you ask for?

Ok, so what we have here is a compilation featuring bands from two of hardcore's hardest working labels. There's lots of types of hardcore on this, but it's mostly that brutal metal and noise stuff that these labels are best known for. The plethora of bands include Dillenger Escape Plan, Nora, Burn It Down, Racetraitor, Disembodied, Brother's Keeper, and a ton more. Hell, there's evena Rancid song on it! As you can see, there's lots of old favorites as well as some up and comers. This is a really good, cheap comp featuring some of hardcore's finest. Definitely worth looking into for anyone interested in either the Trustkill or Ferret sounds - who didn't become recognized as two of the best hardcore labels fo rnothing, ya know! This comp will show you why.
